The purpose of this circular is to provide information on the administration of the 2005-06 CSCI Reimbursement Grant in respect of Councils with Social Services Responsibility. This circular is accompanied by the CSCI reimbursement grant number 2 determination 2005-06 (Gateway reference 6006)

The Local Authority Social Services Letter, LASSL (2004) 2, issued on 2 December 2004, gave provisional details of the Local Government Finance Settlement for 2005-06. Following agreement with local authority representatives, councils were advised in the LASSL that a total of £750,000 would be top-sliced from the Formula Spending Share allocation as a contribution to funding the review panel stage of the revised social services complaints procedure. This contribution was transferred to CSCI.

Local Authority Circular, LAC (2005) 4,  issued 21 March 2005 advised councils that following the deferment by six months of the transfer of review panels to CSCI, councils' financial contribution had been reduced by 50 percent.
