Representatives of the families of variant CJD patients have brought to our attention several instances of restrictions being imposed on families when arranging funerals for a relative, in particular that the body be placed in a sealed coffin, and any form of contact with the deceased forbidden. These actions have caused additional distress and financial burden to the families concerned.
