This letter describes this year's pneumococcal immunisation campaign.

This letter describes this year's pneumococcal immunisation campaign. In summary:

  • From 1 April describes this year, the pneumococcal immunisation programme for older people will be extended to include all people aged 65 years and over.
  • Primary care trusts will receive financial support for the running of the pneumococcal programme. The Department aims to make payments to primary care trusts by 31 May 2005.
  • Pneumococcal vaccine also continues to be recommended for certain risk groups under 65 years of age.

Details of the immunisation programmes are attached in the Annex.
