This letter advises of a change to the arrangements for the approval of new nurse, midwife and health visitor consultant posts. NHS organisations wishing to establish posts will be permitted to do so with the agreement of their Strategic Health Authority. The central scrutiny and approval process will cease. The April 2003 tranche of posts will be the last approved under the current system.
