The enclosed guidance for health care professionals on HIV and Infant Feeding was developed by the Chief Medical Officer's Expert Advisory Group on AIDS (EAGA) in response to evidence that there is a substantial risk of transmission of HIV from an infected mother to her infant through breastfeeding.
