The Opportunities for Volunteering (OFV) scheme was launched by the Department of Health in 1982. In 2007/08 approximately £6.7 million will be distributed to over 300 projects in England. The focus of these projects is to involve volunteers in the delivery of health and social care services.
This document is a snapshot of what local people can achieve through volunteering. It provides an opportunity for all NHS and social care organisations to recognise the impact of the scheme and, where appropriate, harness the power of volunteering through local partnerships.
