Mental Health Bill 2006 - Race Equality Impact Assessment

This is a Race Equality Impact Assessment (REIA) on the amendments to the Mental Health Act 1983 produced in accordance with the duties arising from Section 71 of the Race Relations Act [1976], as amended by the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000.

The Race Relations Act contains specific duties for a Government Department to produce a Race Equality Scheme containing arrangements for assessing and consulting on the likely impact of proposed policies on the promotion of race equality; and monitoring its existing policies for any adverse impact on race equality.
