This toolkit has been prepared on advice of the Chief Medical Officer after the idea and a need for such a toolkit was acknowledged by the Regional Directors of Public Health. The key purpose of the toolkit is to raise the awareness of the issues surrounding the release of the health professionals from the NHS to work abroad on humanitarian and health development initiatives and the benefits that such work could bring to NHS, patients and professional development of individuals.
