6.6 Appraisals of the effectiveness of taxanes in breast and ovarian cancer were published by NICE earlier this year.
A further thirteen chemotherapy treatments are currently being assessed. When the appraisals of these drugs are complete next summer there will be evidence based advice on effectiveness of chemotherapy drugs for a range of cancers including colorectal, lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and ovarian cancer. The funding for cancer announced in the NHS Plan will mean that the NHS is able to implement NICE's recommendations, tackling the postcode prescribing lottery for cancer drugs.
