This pack includes a range of resources to help highlight the harmful effects of cannabis use for people with mental health problems.

For people with mental health problems, using cannabis can be very harmful – worsening symptoms, interfering with medication and increasing the likelihood of relapse.

The information in this pack has been developed to help mental health practitioners raise and discuss the subject of cannabis use with service users.

It covers the effects of cannabis on people who already have mental health problems – not whether cannabis use causes people to develop mental health problems.

As part of a wider package of care, the information in this pack can be used to help draw people closer to the point where they decide for themselves to change their cannabis use.

The resource includes

  • Guidance note for professionals on using the materials
  • Information that explains the impact of cannabis on people with mental health problems
  • A short quiz addressing some of the key issues around cannabis and mental health
