Findings in relation to the framework for primary ophthalmic services, the position of dispensing opticians in relation to the NHS, Local Optical Committees, and the administration of General Ophthalmic Services payments

The primary focus of the review has been to examine how to support PCTs in commissioning a wider range of community based eye care services, where this is likely to improve patient experience and provide a cost-effective way of increasing capacity and choice.

The main outcome of the review is a commissioning toolkit, which is designed to provide PCTs with practical advice on commissioning community-based eye care services.
