Primary care dental services: guidance on single-use instruments for endodontic procedures

In issuing guidance on the use of single use instruments for endodontic treatments, the Department's first priority has been patient safety and the need to act quickly on the early findings from the research being undertaken by the Health Protection Agency into vCJD.

Further to the CDO's letter of 19 April to all dentists in England, this note explains further work being undertaken to understand the cost implications for dentists of moving to single-use reamers and files.
