Department of Health Ministers have referred the following topics to the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence for the production of clinical guidelines and public health guidance. NICE will begin consultation on these in due course and details will be made available on the NICE website at:
Autism in children and adolescents
Remit: To develop a clinical guideline in relation to the initial recognition, referral and diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders in children and adolescents.
Hypertension in pregnancy
Remit: To develop a clinical guideline on the management of hypertension in pregnancy.
Management of bedwetting
Remit: To develop a clinical guideline for the management of bedwetting in children.
Assessment and management of severe mental illness in conjunction with substance misuse
Remit: To develop a clinical guideline for the assessment and management of severe mental illness in conjunction with problematic substance misuse.
Needle exchange
Remit: To produce public health intervention guidance to encourage the optimal provision of needle exchange schemes amongst injecting drug misusers.
Mechanisms to reduce inequalities in uptake of immunisation
Remit: To produce public health intervention guidance on mechanisms to reduce inequalities in the uptake of immunisation amongst individuals under the age of 19 years (including targeted vaccines).
Prevention, early identification and management of alcohol use disorders
Remit: To produce combined public health and clinical guidance on prevention and early identification of alcohol use disorders in adults and adolescents
Remit: To produce combined public health and clinical guidance on management of alcohol use disorders in adults and adolescents
