Department of Health Ministers have referred the following topics to the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence for the production of clinical guidelines and public health guidance.  NICE will begin consultation on these in due course and details will be made available on the NICE website.

Clinical Guidelines

Multiple pregnancy

Remit: To prepare a clinical guideline on the management of multiple pregnancy.

Transient loss of consciousness (T-LOC) in adults

Remit: To prepare a clinical guideline on the management of transient loss of consciousness (T-LOC) in adults.

Men with lower urinary tract symptoms

Remit: To prepare a guideline on the assessment, investigation, management and onward referral of men with lower urinary tract symptoms (including male incontinence) within primary care.

Primary colorectal and anal cancer

Remit: To prepare a clinical guideline on the diagnosis and management of patients with all stages of primary colorectal and anal cancer.  This excludes any population screening and surveillance of high-risk groups, including patients with a family history and patients with inflammatory bowel disease.

Short Clinical Guideline

Critical illness - rehabilitation

Remit: The rehabilitation of adults after a period of critical illness requiring a stay on ITU of over 5 days.

Public Health Intervention Guidance

Mental wellbeing of young people in secondary education

Remit: To produce public health intervention guidance for the promotion of the mental wellbeing of young people in secondary education using whole school approaches and targeted activities.
