This report considers the potential risk to public health of variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (vCJD) being transmitted by re-use of instruments in "High Street" (i.e. non-hospital) dentistry.

Whilst there is currently no evidence of vCJD having been spread by dentistry, this  report, presented to the Spongiform Encephalopathy Advisory Committee (SEAC) on 14 December 2007, considers the potential risk to public health of vCJD transmission by re-use of dental instruments.
