Since 2006, through the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), GPs have been paid partly on the basis of how well they identify patients with chronic kidney disease and how well they manage their care. There are 27 points which relate to the identification and management of chronic kidney disease. 6 points relate to the production of a register of patients aged 18 years and over with chronic kidney disease stages 3-5.
