Modernising Scientific Careers (MSC)

Modernising Scientific Careers, led by the Chief Scientific Officer, is a key work programme within the Department of Health designed to ensure flexibility, sustainability and modern career pathways for healthcare scientists, fit to address the needs of future NHS.

NHS Next Stage Review: A High Quality Workforce set the broad direction of travel for MSC and indicated that the proposals were still in the early stages of development. A High Quality Workforce also made the commitment to engage extensively with stakeholders on the plans for the Modernising Scientific Careers Programme. This leaflet was produced in June 2008 to help engage stakeholders in this process, and as the career framework evolved in dialogue with stakeholders the leaflet became obsolete. This information in this MSC leaflet expired on 10th September 2008.
