A personal health budget allows people to have more choice, flexibility and control over the health services and care they receive.

The Department of Health launched a pilot programme in October 2011 involving around half the primary care trusts in England to test out personal health budgets in the NHS.

This DVD shares the experience of people in the personal health budgets pilot programme. They describe in their own words what the process is like, what they spend their money on and how they made these decisions. The films also include the perspectives of family carers and health care professionals. The films aim to illustrate the kind of choices people can make if they have a personal health budget, and the positive impact it can have on their health and lives.
