The Pharmaceutical Industry Competitiveness Task Force (PICTF) has provided a structured, action-oriented platform for effective dialogue between Government and the pharmaceutical industry. PICTF is an important and timely initiative. This report from PICTF reflects many positive outputs. PICTF has addressed a number of important areas, including protection for intellectual property, tensions in the EU Single Market for Pharmaceuticals, overcoming impediments to competitive clinical research, and improving the competitiveness of the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical research sector. It has also engaged in a much more strategic debate about future developments in the UK pharmaceuticals market.
