The ACDP has published new guidance for all workers exposed to biological agents in the workplace. The Infection at Work: controlling the risk guidance is especially aimed at those who may be incidentally exposed to biological agents during the course of their work, such as farmers, refuse collectors and cleaners. This new guidance replaces (in part) the 1995 'Categorisation of biological agents according to hazard and categories of containment' guidance. More specific guidance aimed at health care workers and laboratory staff is currently under consideration and should be available in 2004. Both publications will fully replace the 'Categorisation' document.
