The principal purpose of the Review was to identify key opportunities for research in the United Kingdom. A further purpose was to identify opportunities for research to support the implementation by the NHS of the National Service Framework for Diabetes. It was also the intention that the Review should be of use to funding agencies which support research on diabetes and to the research community at large.
