The Long-term Conditions Information Strategy has been written to coincide with the publication of the related National Service Framework (NSF) for long-term conditions and to support its quality requirements. It reflects the needs for information that have been expressed through Advisory Groups of interested parties, commonly referred to as 'stakeholders', who include representatives of the public and patients, families and carers, care professionals from a variety of agencies such as health, social care and education, charitable and voluntary organisations, managers, planners, commissioners and policy makers. It has also drawn upon information and opinions expressed in Levelling Up (April 2002), published by the Neurological Alliance, and in Shaping the NSF for Long-term Conditions: The Views of Service Users, Carers and Voluntary Organisations (March 2004), a consultation carried out by the Longterm Medical Conditions Alliance and the Neurological Alliance.
