On 24 March 2005, the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee published a report on 'Human Reproductive Technologies and the Law', following a yearlong inquiry and collection of evidence. This paper sets out the Government's response to all of the of the report's 104 conclusions and recommendations.
The Select Committee's conclusions and recommendations have been considered in the context of the Government's own plans to review the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 1990 (the HFE Act), announced on 21 January 2004.
Recommendations addressing the same issue have been grouped together where appropriate. In several cases we have indicated that we will seek wider public views on the Committee's recommendations as part of our own review of the Act.
