This Guide provides examples of good practice in the delivery and organisation of adult critical care services. It describes features of a high quality, patient focussed service with examples of how this can be achieved.

The Department of Health is a member of a group of organisations who represent all those involved in the development and delivery of adult critical care services in England. This is called the Critical Care Stakeholder Forum. It was established in April 2004 to mobilise stakeholder involvement in the strategic development and delivery of critical care services and to provide a communications link between a wide variety of professional, operational and managerial groups.
