This document gives guidance to local authorities on charging for residential accommodation (CRAG). It is issued under Section 7(1) of the Local Authority Social Services Act 1970 which requires local authorities to exercise Social Services functions under guidance of Secretary of State.

This supersedes all previous versions of CRAG and takes account of changes announced in LAC(2005)18 . These changes are shown within the guidance document by the use of shading.

Update

The Charging for residential accommodation guide was updated in April 2006 to take account of changes announced in LAC (2006)12.
