Delivering 21st Century IT for the NHS: National Patient Record Analysis Service (NPRAS) Strategic Outline Case

Version 2

This strategic outline case is concerned with the investment in a National Patient Records Analysis Service (NPRAS) which will support the delivery of the NHS Plan by improving the management and delivery health services through the provision of access to good quality data and information to support performance and resource management, clinical governance and audit, planning, commissioning, research and surveillance activities

The NHSIA now have the lead responsibility for the delivery of NPRAS to meet this strategic vision. This SOC has been handed over to the NHSIA to act as the basis for the future delivery and implementation of NPRAS. The new programme manager for NPRAS is Leonie Mountney. The NHSIA are currently considering the revised programme management arrangements for NPRAS and the timetable for the programme. These will be communicated when they are finalised.

In the interim, the strategic vision and principles included in the final SOC are already being used to guide future developments in analytical services at a national level.
