In March 2006, the Chief Medical Officer issued a position statement setting out arrangements for the simplification and integration of the current arrangements for public health and medical leadership for the DH public health function co-located with the GOR and for SHAs. This HR guidance sets out the arrangements for appointments to these joint posts of Regional Director of Public Health/SHA Director of Public Health.
