The National Cancer Director's Report shows that: the uptake of individual cancer drugs increases following a positive NICE appraisal - on average there was a 48% increase in the median usage since the last exercise: variation in usage of all NICE approved cancer drugs is reducing. This clearly demonstrates that the process the Government has established to ensure equity of access to treatment is working for cancer - a positive NICE appraisal leads to increased and more consistent use of these drugs around the country.
