This analysis is based on data collected in the National Survey of Cancer Patients which was undertaken in 1999/2000.
Introduction
The National Surveys of NHS Patients programme comprises a series of surveys designed to contribute to the monitoring of performance of the NHS as seen from the patient's perspective. The survey of cancer patients is the third in the series and was designed to assess the quality of care by hospital patients with one of six types of cancer namely breast, colorectal, lung, ovarian, prostate and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Aims and background
This paper describes secondary analyses that were carried out on data from the National Surveys of NHS Cancer Patients, 2000-2001. The key objectives of the analyses were:
The analyses were based on 65,337 respondents from 172 hospital Trusts in England. This gave an average of 380 respondents per trust.
