The social capital and social exclusion module for the Health Survey (2000) was developed to capture key elements of social capital, new to the survey, and aspects of social exclusion not covered by the existing suite of questions on socio-economic status asked every year in the Health Survey.

This report is based on the findings of stage II of a three-part study conducted by the Joint Health Surveys Unit for the Department of Health. The overall aim of the study is to explore the feasibility of extending national health surveys to include Black African populations living in the UK.
