  • Last modified date:
    8 February 2007

The strategic Review of Business Information Needs (RoBIN) in the Department covered subject area reviews on Cancer, Performance Management and Race Equality.

A minute from John Fox, Director of Statistics, explaining the background and scope of RoBIN, was sent on 28 March 2000 to all HQ Directors, Regional Directors and Division Heads.

Details of the three subject area reviews are as follows:

  • Cancer - to be undertaken by a secondee from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), Mike Quinn. Due to take up post in April. Steering arrangements still to be agreed but should be linked to programme management arrangements for Cancer.
  • Performance Management - Jo Bibby, FPA-NHSP, is leading the review, supported by Julia Hickling, FPA-PA. A programme of interviews has begun. The Performance Development Group (PDG) is overseeing this work. For further information contact Jo Bibby on 0113 254 5197, or Julia Hickling on 0113 254 5276.
  • Race Equality - Julie Stroud, Stats(W)HCIS is conducting the review. Work in this area is underway and a programme of interviews will start shortly. To be steered by the Steering Group on Race Equality Information (SGIRE), a sub-committee of the Departmental Board Sub-group on Race Equality. For further information ring Julie Stroud on 0113 254 5663. See the  link below for the terms of reference for this review.

A fourth piece of work looking at the principles for collection and use of Departmental information has been developed by Jim Shannon of the HCIS Team. This work will be refined in the light of experience of conducting the initial reviews.
