Personal Social Services User Experience Survey 2000-2001

This bulletin presents for the first time statistics on users' experiences of Personal Social Services in England.

Main Findings:

In answer to the question;

Did you get the help quickly after a decision was made to provide services?

  • 84% of respondents in England said 'Yes'.
  • 86% of white respondents said 'Yes' compared to 74% of black and minority ethnic groups.
  • 77% of those aged 18-64 said 'Yes' compared with 86% of those aged 65 and over.

In answer to the question;

Did social services staff take note of any important matters relating to your race, culture or religion?

  • 37% of respondents in England said 'Yes'.
  • 38% of white respondents said 'Yes' compared to 49% of black and minority ethnic groups.
  • 40% of those aged 18-64 said 'Yes' compared with 37% of those aged 65 and over.
