Personal Social Services User Experience Survey 2001-2002

This bulletin presents for the second time statistics on users' experiences of Personal Social Services in England.

Main findings

In answer to the question

Did you get the help quickly after a decision was made to provide services?

  • 83% of respondents in England said 'Yes', less than the 84% figure in 2000-01.
  • 85% of white respondents said 'Yes' compared to 72% of black and minority ethnic groups.
  • 76% of those aged 18-64 said 'Yes' compared with 85% of those aged 65 and over.

In answer to the question

Did social services staff take note of any important matters relating to your race, culture or religion?

  • 39% of respondents in England said 'Yes', more than the 37% figure in 2000-01.
  • 38% of white respondents said 'Yes' compared to 51% of black and minority ethnic groups.
  • 41% of those aged 18-64 said 'Yes' compared with 39% of those aged 65 and over.
