Statistics relating to community care and personal social services for adults: home help/home care services, residential care, and guardianship under the Mental Health Act.

Analysis of targets for older people

This analysis of targets for intensive home care and waiting times for assessment and receipt of services was produced for the Older People Services Programme Board. These targets have been developed by the social care policy division specialising in older people's services to improve access to social care services, and to ensure that older people stay independent and healthy.

Community Care Statistics: Home help/home care statistics, England

Statistics on home help/home care services purchased or provided by local authorities in England, for a survey week. Details were collected on the number of contact hours of home help/home care and the number of households receiving these services. The data are broken down by the sector providing the service. In addition for each sector, a matrix of total client hours by total number of visits during the week was collected.

Note that this information is now collected and published by the Information Centre for health and social care (IC). All data published from October 2005 onwards will be published on the IC website.

Community Care Statistics: Referrals, Assesssments and Packages of care (RAP), England

The Referrals, Assessments and Packages of Care Project (RAP) was developed to provide a coherent set of national statistics on adult community care. Note that this information is now collected and published by the Information Centre for health and social care (IC). All data published from October 2005 onwards will be published on the IC website

Community Care Statistics: Supported Residents (adults), England

The SR1 collects information on CSSR supported residents in staffed homes or other accommodation. Data are collected by type of care (residential or nursing), age group, type of accommodation (CSSR, voluntary, private and other accomodation), type of stay (long or short) and location (within or outside CSSR). Data on short stay and long stay admissions of supported residents are also collected. Note that this information is now collected and published by the Information Centre for health and social care (IC). All data published from October 2005 onwards will be published on the IC website

Community Care Statistics: Residential personal social services for adults

This statistical bulletin provides information on the residential, nursing and private hospitals and clinics provision (predominantly for adults), and on residential and nursing care placements funded by local authorities.

Community Care Statistics: Private Nursing Homes, Hospitals and Clinics for Adults, England

Statistical bulletin containing brief statistics on the number of establishments and the total number of beds, analysed by the intended use, broad age group and category, bed occupancy, the number of institutions with operating theatres, and an analysis of the nursing staff by grade and whether full or part-time.

NHS funded nursing care

Section 49 of the Health and Social Services Act, 2001 makes care provided by registered nurses in care homes an NHS responsibility. From 1 October 2001, the NHS became responsible for those who funded all their care in nursing homes (self funders). From 1 April 2003 NHS funding was extended to residents of care homes providing nursing care who receive financial support from local councils.

Guardianship under the Mental Health Act 1983, England

The publication contains figures for England and individual Local Authorities on the total number of Guardianship cases, the number of new cases opened and cases closed during the year, including the average length of closed guardianship cases. It also shows a summary of national trends for the past 8 years.
