Government departments are already delivering on the commitments set out in both the Choosing Health white paper and the national health inequalities strategy, Tackling Health Inequalities - A Programme for Action (July 2003), to improve health and meet the 2010 health inequalities target to reduce by 10% the health gap in life expectancy and infant mortality to tackle the widening overall inequality gap
