The Communicable Diseases Branch provides short term training opportunities in public health, either on secondment or working on Departmental projects. These opportunities are available for Specialist Registrars/Trainees in public health and microbiology.
Trainees are supervised by medical consultants and scientists during secondments.
Training projects undertaken in the past two years include work on planning for influenza pandemics, aspects of response to bioterrorism such as operational guidance on the management of acute incidents and contributing to the National Smallpox Plan, and work on health-care associated infections.
Trainees are supervised by medical consultants and scientists during secondments.

The NHS Immunisation Information programme (formerly at Health Promotion England) takes part in locally organised seminars and study days on immunisation, with a member of the immunisation team attending and giving a presentation. The programme offers £200 towards the costs of such days, as well as supplying free resources. It is pleased to continue offering this service, and in addition is happy to participate in local parent group meetings.
Primary Care Teams or parent groups interested in the Immunisation Information programme taking part in a seminar or study day, should contact
