The DH led strand of the FiS Programme comprises eight pilot projects which follow the child through the school day. It complements, but is outside of the formal curriculum. The projects are distributed across the English regions.

The Healthier Lunchbox project is taking place in the South East Government region. A healthier lunchbox activity kit, plus teacher training workshops, will be piloted in 100 primary and secondary schools in the summer term of 2004.

The Growing Clubs Project will generate information and materials that will help other schools in England develop growing clubs. It will also generate valuable research information that explores and demonstrates the impact of food growth on the whole school community.
The Water Provision pilot project is being carried out in 40 schools across two regions, the North East and the East Midlands. The project consists of research followed by a needs assessment in the schools, intervention and evaluation.
