The NHS Mid-life LifeCheck will begin piloting in early 2009.  This will be in these key settings: acute (hospital), workplace, faith communities, hard to influence (ethnic minority groups and homeless groups), health trainers and general practices, visually impaired groups and groups with learning disabilities.

The pilots will look at the acceptability and impact of the service, opportunities for promotion of the NHS LifeCheck message and how NHS Mid-life LifeCheck can be used in a variety of settings.  The pilots are being independently evaluated and the evidence and recommendations from this will inform the strategy for national roll-out later in 2009.

NHS Mid-life LifeCheck is being developed to ensure alignment with the Prime Minister’s vision for the NHS.  This includes working closely with new preventive health check-up teams such as ‘Putting Prevention First’ vascular checks.  Further plans will be announced in due course.
