Updating you on the Department of Health’s Central Alerting System - the new system for sending out safety alerts to the NHS and beyond.
These pages will be switched off when CAS goes live in the autumn. Until then your questions, queries and comments on the Central Alerting System are welcome.
To ensure the Central Alerting System e-mails are not diverted to a junk-mail folder or blocked by your spam filter, you might like to set a rule on your e-mail system to ensure that all e-mails from this address "cas.alerts@dh.gsi.gov.uk" are delivered to the correct in-box.
A new, flexible IT system for distributing alerts, due to launch in autumn 2008. CAS – the Central Alerting System - will subsume SABS and PHL (Public Health Link) into a more robust and suitable technology for distributing safety alerts, emergency alerts, drug alerts, Dear Doctor letters, and MDA alerts.
It will be an enhanced system but retaining the features of SABS and PHL that users have told us are important for the distribution of critical safety messages.
Safety alerts issued by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (Medical Device Alerts only), DH Estates & Facilities, the National Patient Safety Agency, and patient safety specific guidance from DH.
