The NHS R&D Programme for Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke was one of a number of area specific NHS R&D programmes established since 1993 to address NHS R&D priorities.
The programme's scope was defined by a NHS Central Research and Development Committee (CRDC) Advisory Group which reviewed the area and identified priority areas of R&D need for the NHS, managed by one of the former Regional Offices.
