Change in European Law Governing Clinical Trials of Medicines

A change in European law governing clinical trials of medicines came into effect on 1 May. The letter from Lord Warner to The Baroness Warwick of Universities UK, attached below, confirms that the Regulations will not change the civil liabilities of the NHS, of universities, or of medical research funding bodies. A joint statement by Universities UK and the Department of Health on responsibilities and liabilities in clinical trials together with a note which summaries how the Department of Health and Universities UK expect responsibilities, liabilities and risks to be managed in publicly funded clinical trials involving medicines is also available below.
