All people should receive care that supports their well-being whilst at the same time affords them the choice and dignity to make decisions that suit their individual needs.
The Directorate’s vision for social care
The Social Care, Local Government and Care Partnerships Directorate’s vision for social care is that people of all ages should receive health and social care support, which promotes their recovery, independence, inclusion, health and well-being. When receiving social care, individuals should have the opportunity to exercise choice and control, developing their own solutions and support to shape their lives and the services they require. All social care services should be of high quality and ensure personal safety.
The desired impact of this vision
The aim of the Directorate’s vision is to make a real difference to the lives of individuals using social care services:
- enabling people to live as independently as possible
- enabling people to exercise choice and control over the support they receive
- the promotion of high quality safe services
- supporting equality, human rights and social inclusion.
Objectives for 2007 to 2008
The plan for 2007 to 2008 sets out how the Directorate will enable the Department’s focus on developing policies that foster greater personalisation of services.
