Directorate structure
A number of Directorates make up the Department of Health. In 2006, the Department created the Social Care, Local Government and Care Partnerships Directorate with its own Director on the departmental management board. The Directorate has divisions that work on specific issues and policy areas but also work in a crosscutting way to make the linkages and connections that are so important in the field of social care.
Director general
David Behan was appointed Director General of Social Care in the Department of Health in June 2006.
