New Deal for Carers: the consultation

Over 4,000 carers were consulted in the "most far reaching consultation ever on the future of carers," using a number of means. There was an online ideas tree where carers could post ideas for the new strategy and vote on the ideas of others. A toolkit was provided to carers organisations to hold local events with carers across the country. The department ran 9 regional events for carers. There were three deliberative events (two for adults, one for children) bringing together carers, members of the public and professionals. The consultation process finished with a final consultative event for carers which was attended by the Prime Minister.
