Directions related to NHS continuing health care and NHS-funded nursing care.

National Framework for NHS Continuing Healthcare and NHS-funded Nursing Care

The National Framework for NHS Continuing Healthcare and NHS-funded Nursing Care was issued as best practice guidance in June 2007. These Directions made compliance with that guidance mandatory as of 1 October 2007.

The Continuing Care (National Health Service Responsibilities) Modification Directions 2006

This Direction applies where, as a result of the operation of article 8 (provision for continuity in the exercise of functions) of the 2006 SHA Order, the appropriate SHA for a new PCT has more than one set of eligibility criteria for the provision of continuing care in force in its area.

NHS continuing care assessments and hospital discharge

These Directions require the NHS to assess a patient's needs for fully funded NHS continuing care against SHA eligibility criteria before an assessment notification (section 2 notice) is issued.

Guidance on how to deal with complaints about the continuing care review process for both retrospective review cases and current review cases.
