New Cross-Government Strategy for Supporting Learners with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities

On Monday 18 June 2007, Ministers launched a joint Strategy between the DfES, DH and DWP on the role of further education and training in supporting people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to achieve fulfilling lives.

The three Government departments have joined forces to demonstrate their collective resolve to improve the outcomes for all learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities and show their commitment to ensuring learners with learning difficulties and /or disabilities are given the best chance to achieve their full potential.

The strategy is a commitment to ensuring that current policy to improve the lives of disabled people is implemented; it does not intend to increase the burden to services and frontline staff who are already working hard to make social inclusion happen.
