The Institute for Health Research

The Institute for Health Research at Lancaster University aims to undertake high quality research and development that is directly relevant to supporting the inclusion and quality of life of children and adults with learning disabilities in the North West and nationally.

Association for Real Change (ARC)

Association for Real Change (ARC) is an umbrella organisation which brings together those who provide for people with a learning disability. The organisation's objectives are to maintain and develop quality of care for people with a learning disability. The organisation aims to achieve this by supporting and promoting the key concerns of members.

Inspired Services

Inspired Services is the new name for Community Living. Their work includes the production the Valuing People clipart collection and supporting people to have a greater say in their services and support systems.

Norah Fry Research Centre

Norah Fry Research Centre was established in 1988 as part of the University of Bristol's Department of Mental Health. Its principal interests are the evaluation and development of services for people with learning difficulties.

Tizard Centre is one of the main academic groups working in learning disability and mental health services in the UK. From 1996, the Centre has incorporated work in services for older people. The Centre links with social services Departments, health authorities and other relevant organisations.

United Response

United Response (UR) supports people with learning difficulties and mental health problems to have the things they want and need in their lives. We are a national registered charity that works through local services.

Quality Protects

The Quality Protects programme is a key part of the Government's wider strategy for tackling social exclusion. It focuses on working with some of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable children in our society. Those children looked after by councils in the child protection system; and other children in need.

The Learning Disability Web Site

The site is designed to provide information, education and services to both members of the public and those with a commercial interest. The site is primarily aimed at providing education information for people with learning disabilities, their carers, advocates, friends, professional carers, social and health care workers, students and those who have an active interest in promoting equality of opportunity for people with learning disabilities.
