Standards and regulations

Regulations, standards and inspection
The regulation and inspection of social care services is managed through a framework that aims to ensure all providers meet a set of defined National Minimum Standards.
National Minimum Standards
The National Minimum Standards (NMS) are designed to ensure that care provision is fit for purpose and meets the assessed needs of people using social care services.
Making a social services complaint
Local social services are the responsibility of individual councils and each council is required by law to have a social services complaints procedure.
