Adult social care workforce strategy

The Department is currently working with our key sector and delivery partner organisations  across the statutory and independent sector to develop a workforce strategy for adult social care, as part of delivering the aspirations in Putting People First.

This strategy will also incorporate workforce deliverables announced in the Five Point Plan, announced by Ivan Lewis in April 2007. It will build on the work undertaken as part of the Options for Excellence review.

An interim statement has been published highlighting the work we have done so far, the key strategic priorities and letting the sector and workforce more about the strategy. We will then have some dialogue with some people using services, employers and the workforce to get some feedback before launching the strategy later in 2008.
