The Family Nurse Partnership is a licensed, preventative programme for vulnerable young first time mothers. It offers intensive and structured home visiting, delivered by specially trained nurses, from early pregnancy until the child is two.

Presently there are around 9,000 places in 80 local areas. The Government has committed to increasing the number of places on the FNP to 13,000 by 2015.
